These terms govern your use of SelftapePal. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them.
SelftapePal ("we", "us") provides a browser-based tool that helps actors rehearse and record self-tape auditions, acting as a scene partner that reads cue lines and responds to your delivery. You can reach us at [email protected].
SelftapePal runs in your web browser. Your scenes and recordings are created and stored on your own device. To detect your cue lines during a run, short segments of your audio are sent to our speech-recognition provider for transcription. Some optional features also use third-party providers — for example, AI-assisted script import, which you can choose to use for trickier files. See our Privacy Policy for what's sent where. The app is provided on an ongoing basis and may change or improve over time.
We use passwordless login: you enter your email and confirm a one-time code. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, and for activity that happens under your login. The service is for your own personal, individual use.
You can cancel anytime from your account. Your access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for, and we don't refund unused time. Full details are in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
SelftapePal is designed for an individual professional actor's own auditions — the kind of use a busy actor would realistically need. To keep the service affordable and reliable for everyone, you agree not to:
If an account is used in these ways we may suspend or cancel it — with a warning first for minor issues, and immediately for clear abuse. Where we end a subscription for abuse, we'll refund the unused portion of the current period unless the abuse was serious.
Your scripts, scenes, and recordings are yours. They stay on your device; we don't claim ownership of them and we don't store them on our servers. The one exception is the optional AI-assisted import: if you choose it, the script text you submit is sent to our parsing providers to structure it into a scene, and isn't retained afterwards — this is voluntary and clearly signposted. You're responsible for having the right to use any script or material you bring to the app, including any you choose to submit to AI import.
The SelftapePal app, name, and design are ours. These terms don't give you any right to copy, resell, or reuse them beyond normal use of the service.
The service is provided "as is". Speech recognition and cue detection are helpful but not perfect, and results vary by device, microphone, and network. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we make no promise about audition outcomes.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
You can stop using the service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms, as described in Fair Use above.
We may update these terms. If we make a significant change we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
